Apples and Log Cabins in Vermont

At Sterling Ridge Log Cabins, September in Vermont means a remarkable change of seasons and an abundant crop of APPLES! Vermont hosts countless varieties of apples grown here, which make the perfect way to celebrate the bounty and beauty of fall in Vermont.

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but why stop at just one? The orchards near Sterling Ridge Log Cabins are brimming with juicy apples this time of year, just ripe for the picking! And munching and baking and cider-making…

In Williston, the Adams Apple Orchard and Farm Market have something for everyone this September and throughout the fall. From its humble beginnings a quarter of a century ago as a small apple orchard, it has grown into a country farm offering quality produce, baked goods, specialty products, and even crafts and toys! If you’re a music lover, plan to visit the Adams Apple Orchard and Farm Market on September 19th when Roots 7, a Vermont a cappella group, will perform two-afternoon shows with the orchard as a backdrop for their beautiful melodies.

The Chapin Farm and Orchard in Essex, Vermont is also just a short drive from our cozy cabins at Sterling Ridge.  Offering several varieties of apples, the folks at the Chapin Farm also invite you to watch them make cider using their renovated antique press. Looking for something with a little more kick? They also host one or two cider pressings towards the end of the season for people that want to make their own hard cider.

Like Sterling Ridge Resort and Log Cabins, apple orchards are a perfect destination for families. Located on an island in scenic Lake Champlain, The Allenholm Farm has everything from a “Petting Paddock,” to delicious homemade pies. Their specialty is a soft-serve treat known as a Maple Creemee, is made with pure Vermont maple syrup. And did we mention, apples?

So bring your family to spend a few days in one of our cabins and together take advantage of all Vermont has to offer this September. It’s as American as apple pie!
