Maple Syrup Tour: Behind the Scenes

Vermont and Maple syrup go hand in hand. The third ingredient? Spring! Spring is the sweetest season in Vermont and we want to welcome you behind the scenes to discover just how sweet it can be. This Spring, Sterling Ridge guests will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the old-world production style of real Vermont maple syrup. Over 6 million Maple trees are tapped every year in Vermont alone, and this could be your year to add yourself to the rich history.

We have limited availability to  “Learn where maple syrup comes from!”  Call (802-644-8265)  to book a cabin and see if there is availability for a tour of the Snowshoe Pond/Rock Mountain sugar woods and sugar house. Learn all about tree tapping, sap boiling, and maple grading. At the end of your experience, you will receive a sweet maple treat!  $60 per person plus tax, children under the age of 5 free.

A Taste of Old Vermont

maple syrup sap maple syrup process vacation tour experience in vermontVermont is the land of small towns. With general stores, farmers markets, and neighbors that just seem to know everybody, Vermont is practically one big small town. Our history and culture here is one that holds tight to what makes Vermonters so unique. We’re a crew of hard-working, compassionate, tough people and Sugaring is one thing that makes us that way. It’s an old tradition, one that feels personal and sacred to those who grew up in these Green Mountains. Best part of anything good? Sharing it with other people. We’re excited to welcome you to explore this part of our state.

Maple at Sterling Ridge

The owners of Sterling Ridge, Barb and George, also have a large, certified organic maple syrup operation. They use the sap from maple trees in the forest around Sterling Ridge to produce their wonderful maple syrup (which is also for sale in the Ridge Store!). The Salg family is always around to answer any questions you may have about making maple syrup, as syrup-making is an art that has been passed down through their family for generations.
